Amending O. Reg. 170/22
(VEHICLE INSPECTION CENTRES)
1. (1) Subsection 10 (1) of Ontario Regulation 170/22 is revoked and the following substituted:
Transition, motor vehicle inspection stations
(1) No motor vehicle inspection station licence or motor vehicle inspection mechanic registration is valid on or after January 1, 2025.
(1.1) Despite subsection 91 (4) of the Act, a motor vehicle inspection station licence that expires on December 31, 2023 remains valid, at no cost, until December 31, 2024, unless it is revoked or surrendered before that date.
(1.2) Despite section 14 of Regulation 601 of the Revised Regulations of Ontario, 1990 (Motor Vehicle Inspection Stations), a motor vehicle inspection mechanic registration that expires on December 31, 2023 remains valid, at no cost, until December 31, 2024, unless it is revoked or surrendered before that date.
(2) Clauses 10 (2) (a) and (b) of the Regulation are each amended by striking out “August 1, 2023” and substituting “August 1, 2024” in each case.
(3) Clause 10 (2) (c) of the Regulation is amended by striking out “January 1, 2024” and substituting “January 1, 2025”.
2. (1) Subsection 11 (1) of the Regulation is amended by striking out “August 31, 2023” and substituting “August 31, 2024”.
(2) Subsection 11 (2) of the Regulation is amended by striking out “January 31, 2024” and substituting “January 31, 2025”.
(3) Subsection 11 (4) of the Regulation is amended by striking out “December 31, 2023” and substituting “December 31, 2024”.
3. Subsection 12 (1) of the Regulation is amended by adding “or 2024” after “2023”, and by striking out “December 31, 2024” and substituting “December 31, 2025”.
4. Subsection 13 (2) of the Regulation is amended by striking out “January 1, 2024” and substituting “January 1, 2025”.
Commencement
5. (1) Except as otherwise provided in this section, this Regulation comes into force on the later of July 1, 2023 and the day this Regulation is filed.
(2) Section 3 comes into force on January 1, 2025.
