Minister’s Designation: Ministry of Government and Consumer Services educational and examination requirements for condominium managers

  1. Pursuant to subsection 5(1) of Ontario Regulation 123/17 (the “Regulation”), made under the CONDOMINIUM MANAGEMENT SERVICES ACT, 2015 (the “Act”), for the purposes of paragraph 2 of subsection 11(1) of the Regulation, this Designation specifies the educational and examination requirements for applicants for a general licence and the organizations authorized to provide the courses or examinations herein specified.
  2. For applicants who, prior to November 1, 2017, have less than five years’ experience in providing condominium management services, I HEREBY DESIGNATE the following courses developed by the Association of Condominium Managers of Ontario (“the Association”) and entitled as follows:
    1. Condominium Law,
    2. Physical Building Management,
    3. Financial Planning for Condominium Managers, and
    4. Condominium Administration and Human Relations.
  3. For applicants who, prior to November 1, 2017, have five or more years’ experience in providing condominium management services, I HEREBY DESIGNATE the courses mentioned in section 2 of this Designation or, instead of any of those courses, the applicable challenge examination developed by the Association.
  4. I HEREBY DESIGNATE the following organizations as organizations that are authorized to provide the courses specified under sections 2 and 3 of this Designation:
    1. Any college of applied arts and technology established by regulation under subsection 2(1) of the Ontario Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology Act, 2002, S.O. 2002, c. 8, Sched. F.; or
    2. Any condominium management provider authorized by the Association to offer the courses to that provider’s employees.
  5. I HEREBY DESIGNATE the Association as the organization that is authorized to provide the challenge examinations mentioned in section 3 of this Designation.

This DESIGNATION is effective the 1st of November, 2017.
