1. Age requirements

Note: Under 7 years events are assigned based on application according to weight matching.

  • Male, Senior (ages 40–55): 125 lbs, 140 lbs, 160 lbs, 180 lbs, 180+ lbs
  • Male, Prime (ages 18–39): 120 lbs, 135 lbs, 150 lbs , 165 lbs, 185 lbs, 185+ lbs
  • Male, Junior (ages 15–17): 120 lbs, 140 lbs, 140+ lbs
  • Male, Minor (ages 12–14): 110 lbs, 130 lbs, 130+ lbs
  • Male, Bantam (ages 10–11): 80 lbs, 80+ lbs
  • Male, Atom (ages 8–9): 60 lbs, 60+ lbs
  • Female, Senior (ages 40–55): 120 lbs, 135 lbs, 135+ lbs
  • Female, Prime (ages 18–39): 120 lbs, 135 lbs, 135+ lbs
  • Female, Junior (ages 15–17): 115 lbs, 130 lbs, 130+ lbs
  • Female, Minor (ages 12–14): 100 lbs, 120 lbs, 120+ lbs
  • Female, Bantam (ages 10–11): 75 lbs, 75+ lbs
  • Female, Atom (ages 8–9): 60 lbs, 60+ lbs

2. Skill/experience requirements

  1. Assessment
    1. Conducted by a certified WushuOntario official. The assessment will evaluate the athlete’s skillset compatibility and understanding of the rules and regulations of Sanda.
  2. High Performance Level
    1. Athletes must have experience in Class B or equivalent. WushuOntario official to evaluate the athlete’s skills and comprehension of the rules. Approval is contingent upon documented experience and a thorough assessment by a certified Official.

3. Matching guidelines

  1. Drawing of lots:
    1. The drawing-lots ceremony shall be conducted by the scheduling-recording group, in the presence of the chairman of Jury of Appeal, the chief referee and team coaches or team leaders.
    2. The drawing-lots ceremony shall take place after the initial weighing-in session has concluded, and will start with the lighter weight categories and continue on to the heavier categories. Any category with only one competitor shall be excluded from the contest.
    3. Team coaches or team leaders shall draw lots on behalf of the competitors from their respective teams.
    4. Draw lots are utilized for tournament formats under the 1 loss knock out rule.
  2. Match by data:
    1. Players are paired by matching best appropriate Class (Experience), Age, and Weight as per the skill and experience table as outlined in Section V (1):
      1. Athletes may be matched by moving a down a class based on experience but is prohibited from jumping up a class if requirements are not met.
    2. Ensuring players are not from the same school/country in the first round.
    3. Ensuring players are within limitations of weight variances as per class and age requirements. Class A/B 10 lbs variance, Class C/D 15 lbs variance, Class E/F and exhibitions, no variance.
