Cemeteries Act (Revised), R.S.O 1990, Chapter C4

The Bertram (Old Zion) Cemetery is located at Lot 16, Concession 1, W.H.S., north west corner of Hurontario Street (Highway No. 10) and Wanless Drive, in the City of Brampton, Province of Ontario. The portion of the cemetery proposed for closure is approximately 740 square meters (0.0002 acres) and contains no markers. The first interment in the cemetery occurred in 1845 and the last known interment occurred in 1894. There are no interments within the portion of the cemetery proposed for closure.

Take Notice That, pursuant to the Cemeteries Act (Revised), R.S.O 1990, Chapter C4 the undersigned intends to make application for an Order closing part of the cemetery. The reason(s) for the closure application are:

The re-construction and widening of Wanless Drive (Phase I) from Hurontario Street to McLaughlin Road.

Further Take Notice That, the part the applicant will request the Registrar order closed is identified as approximately 8.5m depth along the frontage on Wanless Drive and approximately 5.5m depth along the frontage on Hurontario Street (Highway No. 10)

The Felician Sisters Cemetery is located at 2165 Mississauga Road, in the City of Mississauga, Province of Ontario. The cemetery is approximately 5525 square feet, containing seven markers. There are seven known interments that occurred between 1960 and 1995. This cemetery was used as a private burial ground for members of the Felician Sisters of St. Francis of Canada and is located on the Sisters’ provincial house grounds. Relatives of the seven sisters interred have been notified.

Take notice that, pursuant to the Cemeteries Act (Revised) R.S.O 1990, Chapter C4 the undersigned intends to make an application for an Order closing all of the cemetery. The reasons for the closure application are:

  1. the cemetery as now designed is not large enough to accommodate all the Felician Sisters who would have been buried there
  2. the Sisters do not have the equipment or personnel to perform interments and must subcontract these services to Assumption Cemetery in Mississauga.

Further take notice that, the applicant will request the Registrar include in the order to close the requirement to disinter all human remains and reinter as follows:
