Applications to Provincial Parliament

Notice Is Hereby Given that on behalf of The Sisters of St. Joseph of Hamilton, The Sisters of St. Joseph of the Diocese of London, in Ontario, The Sisters of St. Joseph of the Diocese of Peterborough in Ontario and the Sisters of St. Joseph for the Diocese of Pembroke in Canada that application will be made to the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario for an Act amalgamating them into one corporation, restating their charitable objects, and continuing for the benefit of the amalgamated corporation the exemptions from municipal and school taxes that are set out in Private Acts S.O. 2009, c. Pr5 and S.O. 2010, c. Pr7 on the properties municipally known as 485 Windermere Road, in the city of London, Ontario and 1555 Monaghan Road in the city of Peterborough, Ontario.

The application will be considered by the Standing Committee on Regulations and Private Bills. Any person who has an interest in the application and who wishes to make submissions, for or against the application, to the Standing Committee on Regulations and Private Bills should notify, in writing, the Clerk of the Legislative Assembly, Legislative Building, Queen’s Park, Toronto, Ontario, M7A 1A2.

Notice Is Hereby Given that on behalf of The Beechwood Cemetery Company, an application will be made to the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario for special legislation to amend An Act to incorporate “The Beechwood Cemetery Company of the City of Ottawa”, being chapter 149 of the Statutes of Ontario, 1873, as amended by Acts enacted in 1894, 1914, 1921, 1928 and 1962-63 (the “Act”). The company is also governed by The Beechwood Cemetery Company of the City of Ottawa Act, 1956.

The special legislation is being applied for to amend the Act so as to take into account changes to the law governing cemeteries and to modernize some of the provisions relating to the governance of the board of directors and to remove limitations on the borrowing powers of the company.

The application will be considered by the Standing Committee on Regulations and Private Bills.
