Culture Days

whereas Ontario is a culturally rich province with many talented artists and cultural organizations, unique cultural heritage, and a thriving creative economy;

and whereas the Ontario Culture Strategy sets out a vision of an Ontario where every person has the opportunity for creative expression and cultural participation, and where the diversity of our stories and communities is reflected, valued and celebrated, now and as part of our legacy to future generations;

and whereas the Ontario Culture Strategy also recognizes that culture contributes significantly to both quality of life and economic development in the Province;

and whereas Culture Days, founded in 2009, is a national festival of arts, culture and heritage and is referenced in the Ontario Culture Strategy as one of the ways Ontarians celebrate their culture;

and whereas Culture Days promote free and interactive cultural activities for residents and visitors in communities across the country;

and whereas Culture Days also celebrate Indigenous peoples’ distinct identities, histories and cultures;

therefore a proclamation is issued naming September 30 and October 1 and 2, 2016 as “Culture Days” in the Province of Ontario.
