This is the English version of a bilingual regulation.

1. (1) The fee for a commission appointing a barrister and solicitor as a notary public is $145.  O. Reg. 299/92, s. 1 (1).

(2) The fee for a commission appointing a person other than a barrister and solicitor as a notary public is $110.  O. Reg. 299/92, s. 1 (2).

(3) The fee for a commission reappointing a person other than a barrister and solicitor as a notary public is $75.  O. Reg. 299/92, s. 1 (3).

Note: On August 1, 2020, the day section 6 of Schedule 13 to the COVID-19 Response and Reforms to Modernize Ontario Act, 2020 comes into force, section 1 of the Regulation is amended by striking out “a barrister and solicitor” wherever it appears and substituting in each case “a licensee under the Law Society Act”. (See: O. Reg. 430/20, s. 1)

2. Section 1 does not apply to a commission appointing as a notary public for Ontario a person who is an employee of,

(a)  the Government of Canada;

(b)  the Government of Ontario; or

(c)  a municipality in Ontario where the application for the commission is made upon the request of the head of the municipality.  R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 831, s. 2.
