Amending Reg. 611 of R.R.O. 1990

(Safety Inspections)

Note: Since the end of 2001, Regulation 611 has been amended by Ontario Regulation 65/02.  Previous amendments are listed in the Table of Regulations published in The Ontario Gazette dated January 19, 2002.

1. The definition of “salvage motor vehicle” in section 1 of Regulation 611 of the Revised Regulations of Ontario, 1990 is revoked and the following substituted:

“salvage motor vehicle” means a motor vehicle whose vehicle permit indicates that it is classified as salvage;

2. Subsection 7.1 (1) of the Regulation is revoked and the following substituted:

(1) A structural inspection certificate shall only be issued in respect of a salvage motor vehicle but shall not be issued in respect of a salvage motor vehicle unless the vehicle has been inspected in accordance with the inspection requirements and complies with the performance standards set out in Schedule 9. 

3. (1) Section 2 of Schedule 9 to the Regulation is amended by adding the following subsection:

(4) Subsection (1) does not apply to a motor vehicle imported into Ontario, the permit for which was issued by a jurisdiction listed in Column 1 of Table 3 and that is classified by that jurisdiction with a classification that is set out in Column 2 of the Table as equivalent to rebuilt for that jurisdiction.

(2) Section 2 of Schedule 9 to the Regulation is amended by adding the following Table:

(3) Subsection 4 (2) of Schedule 9 to the Regulation is amended by striking out “paragraph 12” and substituting “paragraph 13”.

4. This Regulation comes into force on the day section 199.1 of the Act is proclaimed in force.
