Amending O. Reg. 114/99
(FAMILY LAW RULES)
1. (1) Subrule 1 (8) of Ontario Regulation 114/99 is amended by adding the following clause:
(a.1) an order to pay an amount to a party or into court as a penalty or fine;
(2) Clause 1 (8) (g) of the Regulation is revoked and the following substituted:
(g) a contempt order, if sought under rule 31.
2. Rule 1 of the Regulation is amended by adding the following subrule:
Communications out of court
(12.2) A party to a case, a party’s lawyer or other representative or anyone else acting for or on behalf of a party shall not, directly or indirectly, communicate out of court with a judge or associate judge about a case unless,
(a) the parties consent, in advance, to the out-of-court communication; or
(b) the court directs otherwise.
3. Subrule 42 (19) of the Regulation is amended by striking out “2024” at the end and substituting “2027”.
4. (1) The rows for Forms 8A and 36 in the Table of Forms to the Regulation are amended by striking out “December 1, 2020” in the column titled “Date of Form” and substituting “April 1, 2024”.
(2) The rows for Forms 37, 37A, 37B, 37C and 37D in the Table of Forms to the Regulation are amended by striking out the date in the column titled “Date of Form” and substituting “April 1, 2024”.
Commencement
5. (1) Except as otherwise provided in this section, this Regulation comes into force on the day it is filed.
(2) Subsection 4 (1) comes into force on the later of July 15, 2024 and the day this Regulation is filed.
