EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Explanatory Note was written as a reader’s aid to Bill 35 and does not form part of the law. Bill 35 has been enacted as Chapter 20 of the Statutes of Ontario, 2022.

The Bill enacts the Keeping Students in Class Repeal Act, 2022.

The Act repeals the Keeping Students in Class Act, 2022 and deems it to have never been in force.

For greater certainty the collective agreements that were deemed to be in operation under the Keeping Students in Class Act, 2022 are deemed never to have come into operation.

The Act is deemed to have come into force on November 3, 2022.

An Act to repeal the Keeping Students in Class Act, 2022

Assented to November 14, 2022

His Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

Repeal of Act

1 The Keeping Students in Class Act, 2022 is repealed and is deemed for all purposes never to have been in force.

Collective agreements

2 For greater certainty, the collective agreements that were deemed to be in operation under subsection 5 (1) of the Keeping Students in Class Act, 2022 are deemed for all purposes never to have come into operation.

Commencement

3 This Act is deemed to have come into force on November 3, 2022.

Short title

4 The short title of this Act is the Keeping Students in Class Repeal Act, 2022.
