Order in Council 1132/2024

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

WHEREAS the Provincial Judges’ Remuneration Commission (“the Commission”) is established under Section 51.13 of the Courts of Justice Act and its composition and functions are set out in Appendix A of the Framework Agreement as a Schedule to the Act;

WHEREAS the head of the Commission is to be appointed jointly by the associations representing the provincial judges and the Lieutenant Governor in Council;

WHEREAS the Association of Ontario Judges, which represents the provincial judges, and the Lieutenant Governor in Council have jointly agreed that the members of the 11^th Commission should sit to make recommendations regarding the remuneration of provincial judges for the period starting on April 1, 2022 and ending on March 31, 2026 in respect of the 11^th Commission;

WHEREAS the Association of Ontario Judges and the Lieutenant Governor in Council have jointly selected Marilyn Nairn to be the head of the 11^th Commission;

THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO Section 6, paragraph 3 of the Schedule to the Courts of Justice Act,

Marilyn Nairn of Toronto

is appointed effective the date this Order in Council is made as the head of the Commission for a term of four years that is deemed to have commenced on July 1, 2022 and will end on June 30, 2026.
