On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Whereas by Order in Council 1718/2019, dated November 28, 2019, the position of Community Opportunities Advocate, known as the Advocate for Community Opportunities (“the Advocate”), was established, and by Order in Council 909/2022, dated April 1, 2022, the position was extended for a period ending no later than November 15, 2022;

And whereas the Government of Ontario wishes for the Advocate to continue to provide strategic advice and identify actions that may improve outcomes in marginalized communities;

And whereas any powers, duties, functions and responsibilities relating to the Advocate have been transferred from the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services to the Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism;

Therefore, pursuant to the prerogative power of His Majesty the King in Right of Ontario to appoint special advisors to serve His Majesty’s Government of Ontario in the discharge of its executive obligations and responsibilities:

Effective the date this Order in Council is made, the term of the Advocate’s position is hereby extended for a period ending no later than November 15, 2024.

And further, to reflect the transfer of powers, duties, functions and responsibilities relating to the Advocate from the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services to the Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism, paragraph 3 of Order in Council 1718/2019, dated November 28, 2019, is deleted and replaced with the following:

  1. The Advocate will report to the Premier of Ontario (“the Premier”) and will work with the Minister of Citizenship and Multiculturalism, and such other ministries as directed by the Premier.
