On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Whereas it has been determined that it is desirable, pursuant to the prerogative of Her Majesty the Queen in right of Ontario, and in the discharge of the government’s executive obligations and responsibilities, to establish a position for a Special Advisor on Indigenous Affairs;

Therefore, pursuant to the prerogative of Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Ontario to provide for the appointment of advisors to serve Her Majesty’s Government of Ontario in the discharge of its executive obligations and responsibilities:

  1. The position of Special Advisor on Indigenous Affairs (the “Special Advisor”), accountable to the Minister of Indigenous Affairs (the “Minister”) is hereby established;
  2. The Lieutenant Governor in Council may appoint the Special Advisor and this person shall serve at the pleasure of the Lieutenant Governor in Council for a period not exceeding three years;
  3. The Special Advisor shall perform such duties and carry out such activities as are determined by the Minister, who may vary or amend those duties and activities from time to time;
  4. From time to time, the Special Advisor will provide advice to the Premier, with and through the Minister;
  5. The Special Advisor shall be paid such remuneration as is determined by the Lieutenant Governor in Council;
  6. The Special Advisor shall be eligible for reimbursement of expenses incurred in the performance of his or her duties in accordance with the Management Board of Cabinet Travel, Meal and Hospitality Expenses Directive;
  7. The Special Advisor shall be subject to the applicable laws of Ontario, the Management Board of Cabinet’s Agencies and Appointments Directive, 2018 and any successor thereto, and to all other applicable government directives, policies and guidelines.
