On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Whereas Laurentian University of Sudbury has brought an Application under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (Canada) to restructure its affairs and it is imperative that the Board of Governors of the university be fully constituted to support a successful restructuring;

And whereas section 13 of The Laurentian University of Sudbury Act, 1960 provides that the Board of Governors of the university shall include five persons to be named by the Lieutenant Governor in Council and these positions are presently vacant;

And whereas clause 77(c) of the Legislation Act, 2006 provides that the power to appoint a person to a public office includes the power to temporarily appoint another person to the office if it is vacant;

And whereas it is imperative that the members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council hold the appropriate expertise to contribute to the successful restructuring;

Therefore, pursuant to the authorities cited above, Robert Brouillette of Garson be appointed as a member of the Board of Governors of Laurentian University of Sudbury to serve for a fixed term of one year, effective the date this Order in Council is made.
