Order in Council 459/2018

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Whereas by Order in Council, the Government of Ontario established the position of Special Advisor to the Premier on Community Hubs to lead the development of a strategic framework and related work plan to guide the development of government policy on community hubs and provide recommendations to the Province with respect to government policy related to community hubs;

And Whereas the Premier’s Community Hub Framework Advisory Group, chaired by the Premier’s Special Advisor on Community Hubs, issued a report with recommendations to guide the creation of community hubs entitled Community Hubs in Ontario: A Strategic Framework and Action Plan;

And Whereas the advisory group, chaired by the Premier’s Special Advisor on Community Hubs issued a one-year progress report in August of 2016 and a two-year progress report in October of 2017 and the government has committed to continue to work with its partners and stakeholders on implementation of the recommendations of the Special Advisor and advisory group;

And Whereas pursuant to Order in Council O.C. 328/2015 Karen Pitre was appointed as the Special Advisor for a period not extending beyond March 31, 2016, and she was reappointed by Order in Council O.C. 320/2016 for a period not extending beyond March 31, 2017 and further appointed by Order in Council O.C. 640/2017 for a period not extending beyond March 31, 2018;

And Whereas the Lieutenant Governor in Council considers it advisable to extend the appointment of Karen Pitre as the Special Advisor;

Therefore, pursuant to the prerogative of Her Majesty The Queen in Right of Ontario to appoint persons to serve Her Majesty’s Government of Ontario in the discharge of its executive obligations and responsibilities,

Karen Pitre

be appointed as Special Advisor to the Premier on Community Hubs to serve at the pleasure of the Lieutenant Governor in Council for a further period commencing April 1, 2018 and ending no later than March 31, 2019.
