Business service standards for permits and licences
Find out how long it takes to process business permits and licences per ministry and method of request.
Overview
Ontarians are entitled to receive certain standards of service when you apply for a permit and/or licence for your business from the government.
Starting January 1, 2025 the Ontario government is committed to posting all government service standards for permitting and licensing services for businesses.
- Service standards set out the amount of time that it will take for you to get a response from the government after you submit a request.
- Service methods are the ways that you can request the permit or licence from the government (for example: online, email, mail or in-person).
Standards apply to requests or applications made under normal circumstances. For requests or applications made under a not normal circumstance different standards will apply.
Not normal circumstances could include:
- an inability to process an application due to incomplete or inaccurate information
- an influx of applications when approaching a submission deadline
Performance results of how often these standards have been met will be published on this page quarterly starting July 31, 2025.
