Ontario’s highway programs
Learn about the 2026 Ontario highways program. Find highway expansion and rehabilitation projects that are planned or underway.
Overview
The Ontario Highways Program (OHP) provides information on highway expansion and rehabilitation projects that are planned or underway in communities across the province through different formats, including an interactive map and sortable tables.
From April 2026 to March 2027, the Ontario government is committing about $5.4 billion to repair and expand provincial highways and bridges. This includes construction funding of approximately $2.1 billion in southern Ontario and over $600 million in northern Ontario. These investments in our highway network will:
- connect communities
- improve the quality of life for families, workers and small businesses
- create and support jobs
- reduce gridlock
- improve safety
In addition to the projects included in the OHP, other projects that will improve our highway network are in the pre-planning and planning stages. For example, Ontario continues to move ahead with Highway 413, a new 400-series, 59-kilometre highway that will cross Halton, Peel and York Region and bring relief to one of the most congested transportation corridors in North America – shortening travel times for drivers by up to 30 minutes per trip. Early works projects are progressing well, with some complete and major procurements underway. You can see the proposed corridor for Highway 413 on the interactive map below.
The Bradford Bypass (also known as Highway 425) will be a new 16.3-kilometre, controlled access freeway that will connect Highway 400 in the County of Simcoe and Highway 404 in the Regional Municipality of York. The west section is in construction, while the central and east sections are in detail design. Drivers are expected to save up to 35 minutes when using the Bradford Bypass compared to existing routes along local roads. You can see the Bradford Bypass route reflected on the map below.
