Overview
On October 18, 2024, Patrick Case was appointed to conduct a review of the Toronto District School Board’s (TDSB) excursions policies, procedures and practices, including their implementation.
The review was announced after parents and members of the TDSB’s communities raised concerns about events alleged to have taken place at an excursion to the 2024 Grassy Narrows River Run.

About the reviewer
Patrick Case has an in-depth knowledge of Ontario’s education system, school board governance, human rights law, the Education Act and policies and procedures related to student safety, welfare and equity. Patrick Case previously served as the Ministry of Education’s Chief Equity Officer and Assistant Deputy Minister of the Education Equity and Governance Secretariat from 2017 to 2024. Mr. Case was one of 2 reviewers appointed to undertake the 2017 review of the York Region District School Board.
