Legislation: Land Titles Act, Registry Act

Bulletin content:

Companies Branch has ceased providing paper certified copies of corporate documents which have been historically stored in microfiche and now certify the entire microfiche record for a specific corporation.

In view of this change, Land Registrars have been instructed to accept for registration under section 18 of the Registry Act and as evidence accompanying a document under the Land Titles Act, a paper copy made from a microfiche which has been notarized by a notary public.

As an alternative to microfiche, clients can request from Companies Branch, a Certificate of Status and a Corporation Profile Report. These two produces can be requested and produced remotely by the client.

If either of these documents is presented for registration under the Registry Act or as evidence as part of a registration under the Land Titles Act, they are to be accepted and given the same effect as a notarial copy of a corporate document.
