Order in Council 1024/2017

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Whereas the Lieutenant Governor in Council approved the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, 2006 by Order in Council 1221/2006;

And Whereas subsection 9(1) of the Places to Grow Act, 2005 (the Act) requires the Minister of Municipal Affairs (the Minister) to ensure that a review of each growth plan issued pursuant to the Act be carried out at least every 10 years after the date the plan came into force to determine whether the plan should be revised;

And Whereas on February 28, 2015 the Minister initiated a review of the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, 2006;

And Whereas the review of the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, 2006 was co-ordinated with the reviews of the Greenbelt Plan, the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan and the Niagara Escarpment Plan;

And Whereas following the review, the Proposed Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, 2016 was released for consultation with interested parties, municipalities and Indigenous communities;

And Whereas the Minister conferred and considered the submissions and recommendations on the Proposed Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, 2016 and has complied with all the requirements of the Act and Ontario Regulation 520/10, made under the Act, regarding the preparation, consultation and modification of the Proposed Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, 2016;

And Whereas the Minister, under subsection 7(5) of the Act, recommends that the Lieutenant Governor in Council approve the attached proposed Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, 2017;

Therefore the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, 2006 is hereby revoked under subsection 7(7) of the Act effective July 1, 2017 and the attached Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, 2017 is hereby approved under subsection 7(6) of the Act, to take effect on July 1, 2017.
