Order in Council 1025/2017

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Whereas the Lieutenant Governor in Council established the Greenbelt Plan by Order in Council 208/2005;

And Whereas subsection 10(1) of the Greenbelt Act, 2005 (the Act) requires the Minister of Municipal Affairs (the Minister) to ensure that a review of the Greenbelt Plan is carried out every 10 years after the date the Greenbelt Plan comes into force to determine whether it should be revised;

And Whereas on February 28, 2015 the Minister initiated a review of the Greenbelt Plan;

And Whereas the review of the Greenbelt Plan was co-ordinated with the reviews of the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, 2006, the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan and the Niagara Escarpment Plan;

And Whereas following the review, the proposed amended Greenbelt Plan was released for consultation with interested parties, municipalities and Indigenous communities;

And Whereas further consultation was undertaken in relation to additional minor changes to the Greenbelt boundary;

And Whereas the Minister of Municipal Affairs has conferred and considered the submissions and recommendations on the proposed amendments to the Greenbelt Plan and has complied with all the requirements of the Act regarding the preparation, consultation and modification of the proposed amendments to the Greenbelt Plan;

And Whereas the Minister, under clause 12(1)(a) of the Act, recommends that the Lieutenant Governor in Council approve an amendment to the Greenbelt Plan so that the Appendix represents the Greenbelt Plan as amended by this Order in Council;

Therefore pursuant to subsection 14(1) of the Act, the Greenbelt Plan is hereby amended effective July 1, 2017 so that the Appendix represents the Greenbelt Plan as amended by this Order in Council.
