Order in Council 1144/2019

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Whereas there is a need to assist the Near North District School Board with governance, human resources and finance issues;

And whereas the Lieutenant Governor in Council considers it desirable to establish two Special Advisors positions;

Therefore, pursuant to subsection 10(a) of the Education Act:

1. The two positions of Special Advisors, accountable to the Minister of Education (the “Minister”) is established, effective the date this Order in Council is made and ending on February 28, 2020;
2. The Minister may appoint two Special Advisors to serve at the pleasure of the Minister from the date the appointment is made, which shall not be earlier than the date this Order in Council is made, to a date not extending beyond February 28, 2020;
3. The Special Advisors shall perform such duties and carry out such activities as are determined by the Minister, who may vary or amend those duties and activities from time to time;
4. The Special Advisors shall be paid such remuneration as is determined by the Lieutenant Governor in Council;
5. The two Special Advisors shall be eligible for reimbursement of expenses incurred in the performance of their duties in accordance with the Management Board of Cabinet Travel, Meal and Hospitality Expenses Directive.
