Order in Council 1247/2023

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Whereas Order in Council O.C. 193/2022 dated February 3, 2022 established the Portable Benefits Advisory Committee as a short-term advisory body for the period of February 3, 2022 through August 2, 2023;

And whereas there is a desire to extend the term of the Portable Benefits Advisory Committee to provide more time for the Committee to perform the work within its mandate;

Therefore, pursuant to the prerogative of His Majesty the King in Right of Ontario to appoint persons to serve His Majesty’s Government of Ontario in the discharge of its executive obligations and responsibilities,

1. The term of the Portable Benefits Advisory Committee (“Committee”) is extended for an additional term of 12 months, effective the later of August 3, 2023 and the date this Order in Council is made.
2. During this additional term, the Committee shall consist of up to five members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council to serve at pleasure for terms not exceeding 12 months from the date this Order in Council is made, and the Lieutenant Governor in Council shall designate one member as Chair.
3. The Committee will advise the Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (“Minister”) on the viability, design and implementation of a portable benefits strategy in Ontario.
4. The members of the Committee shall be accountable to the Minister and shall perform the duties and carry out the activities set out in the Terms of Reference established by the Minister. The Terms of Reference may be amended from time to time by the Minister.
5. The members of the Committee shall be paid such remuneration as the Lieutenant Governor in Council may determine.

This Order in Council is effective the later of August 3, 2023 and the date it is made.
