On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Whereas the Education Quality and Accountability Office Act, 1996 establishes the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO);

And whereas said Act provides that the Lieutenant Governor in Council shall appoint a chief executive officer, after consulting with the directors of the board of EQAO;

And whereas the previous chief executive officer has been appointed to a new position and the demands on EQAO are such that it is desirable for an appointment be made on an interim basis while a search is conducted for a new chief executive officer;

Now therefore, pursuant to subsection 16(1) of the Education Quality and Accountability Office Act, 1996,

Richard M. Jones of Richmond Hill

be appointed chief executive officer of the Education Quality and Accountability Office on an interim basis and without additional compensation, effective the date of this Order in Council, subject to the pleasure of the Lieutenant Governor in Council.

Further, this appointment shall expire nine months from the date of this Order in Council or the date a new chief executive officer is appointed, whichever is earlier.
