On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

whereas the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change recommends that the Government of Ontario enter into an environmental occurrences notification agreement with the Government of Canada to reduce administrative duplication resulting from comparable legislative and regulatory provisions;

and whereas the proposed agreement between the Government of Ontario and the Government of Canada is entitled the “Canada-Ontario Environmental Occurrences Notification Agreement”, and is attached as Schedule “A”;

and whereas paragraph 4 (1) (j) of the Environmental Protection Act provides that the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, for the purposes of the administration and enforcement of the Act and the regulations, may, with the approval of the Lieutenant Governor in Council, enter into an agreement with any government or person relating to the protection and conservation of the natural environment;

now therefore:

  1. Pursuant to paragraph 4 (1) (j) of the Environmental Protection Act, the execution of the “Canada-Ontario Environmental Occurrences Notification Agreement”, attached as Schedule “A”, by the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, is hereby approved.
