Order in Council 1987/2016

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

whereas by Order in Council numbered O.C. 1986/2016, dated December 14, 2016, the position of Independent Special Advisor to the Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services on Corrections Reform was established to conduct an independent review of the use of segregation in Ontario’s adult correctional institutions and to provide independent expert advice to identify reforms to correctional services and to develop a specific plan for implementation;

therefore pursuant to the prerogative of Her Majesty The Queen in Right of Ontario to appoint persons to serve Her Majesty’s Government of Ontario in the discharge of its executive obligations and responsibilities, Howard Sapers is hereby appointed, effective January 1, 2017, as the Independent Special Advisor to the Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services on Corrections Reform, to serve at the pleasure of the Lieutenant Governor in Council for a period not exceeding 3 years from the effective date of this appointment.

and that Order in Council numbered O.C. 1686/2016, dated November 7, 2016, is hereby revoked effective the date of this Order in Council.
