Order in Council 219/2019
On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:
Whereas by Order in Council O.C. 722/95 dated March 22, 1995, the then Minister of Natural Resources was given approval by the Lieutenant Governor in Council to establish the Ontario Moose – Bear Allocation Advisory Committee;
And whereas further approval was given by the Lieutenant Governor in Council through Order in Council O.C. 2120/97 dated November 27, 1997 to increase the membership of the Ontario Moose – Bear Allocation Advisory Committee from five members to six members;
And whereas the Government of Ontario wishes to expand the mandate of the Ontario Moose – Bear Allocation Advisory Committee, change the name of the Committee to better reflect the new mandate and increase the membership of the Committee;
Therefore pursuant to section 13 of the Ministry of Natural Resources Act, the Ontario Moose – Bear Allocation Advisory Committee is continued as the Big Game Management Advisory Committee as follows:
Ontario Moose – Bear Allocation Advisory Committee to continue as the Big Game Management Advisory Committee
- Order in Councils O.C. 722/95 dated March 22, 1995 and O.C. 2120/97 dated November 27, 1997 are hereby revoked.
- The Ontario Moose – Bear Allocation Advisory Committee shall now be known as the Big Game Management Advisory Committee (the “Committee”) and shall be continued in accordance with this Order.
Mandate
- The function of the Committee is to
- provide advice to the Minister respecting policy and programs related to the management of species of big game in Ontario,
- review and recommend changes to the allocation of harvesting opportunities for big game as may be requested by the Minister,
- provide advice on such other matters as may be requested by the Minister.
Terms of Reference
- The Minister shall, subject to this Order, determine the terms of reference for the Committee, and may amend them from time to time.
Appointments to the Committee
- The Committee shall be composed of up to ten members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council, one of which shall be designated as the Chair.
- The members of the Committee, including the Chair, shall serve at the Lieutenant Governor in Council’s pleasure for a term not to exceed three years, and may be reappointed for a further term or terms of up to three years each.
Remuneration
- Members of the Committee, including the Chair, shall be paid such remuneration and shall be reimbursed for such expenses as the Lieutenant Governor in Council may determine.
Governance
- The Committee is subject to the applicable laws of Ontario, the Management Board of Cabinet’s Agencies and Appointments Directive, 2018 and any successor thereto; and to all other applicable government directives, policies and guidelines.
And further this Order shall take effect the date it is approved and ordered.
