On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Whereas the Government of Ontario has received the report of the advisor on automobile insurance and is committed to develop an implementation plan to reform key areas of the automobile insurance system;

And whereas the Government of Ontario wishes to establish an advisory body to provide advice on an implementation plan to promote reform of the key areas of the automobile insurance system;

Therefore pursuant to the prerogative of Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Ontario to establish advisory bodies and to provide for the appointment of advisors to serve Her Majesty’s Government of Ontario in the discharge of its executive obligations and responsibilities;

Automobile Insurance Reform Advisory Panel

  1. The Automobile Insurance Reform Advisory Panel (the “Panel”) is established, accountable to the Minister of Finance (the “Minister”) through the Parliamentary Assistant, for a period not exceeding thirty months from the date of this Order.

Terms of Reference

  1. The Minister shall determine the terms of reference for the Panel and may amend them from time to time.

Appointment

  1. The Minister shall appoint up to five members to the Panel.
  2. Each appointee shall serve at the Minister’s pleasure for a period not exceeding thirty months from the date of this Order.

Remuneration

  1. Each appointee shall be paid such remuneration as the Lieutenant Governor in Council may determine.

Reports

  1. All materials produced by the Panel, including reports and recommendations, shall become the property of the Ministry of Finance.

Administrative Arrangements

  1. The Ministry of Finance shall provide the Panel with any necessary administrative support in accordance with the terms of reference.
