On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Whereas section 41(5) of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) requires that the Lieutenant Governor in Council, after consultation with the Minister Responsible for Accessibility, appoint a person who shall undertake a comprehensive review of the effectiveness of the Act and its regulation;

And whereas the Government of Ontario proposes to appoint a Legislative Reviewer of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act to assist in the review, to participate in the consultation process with the public and people with disabilities and to report on his or her findings to the Minister;

Therefore, pursuant to the prerogative of Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Ontario to provide for the appointment of advisors to serve Her Majesty’s Government of Ontario in the discharge of its executive obligations and responsibilities;

The office of the Legislative Reviewer of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, accountable to the Minister Responsible for Accessibility, is hereby established effective the date this Order is approved and terminates on December 31, 2018.

The Minister Responsible for Accessibility shall determine the terms of reference for the office of the Legislative Reviewer and may amend them from time to time.

The Lieutenant Governor in Council may appoint the Legislative Reviewer to serve at the pleasure of the Lieutenant Governor in Council.

The Legislative Reviewer shall be paid such remuneration and shall be reimbursed for such expenses as the Lieutenant Governor in Council may determine.
