On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Whereas the Government of Ontario is committed to working on initiatives to address climate change and identifying and developing opportunities for Ontario to exercise climate leadership;

And whereas the Government of Ontario wishes to reappoint an advisor to provide strategic advice, and recommendations to the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change (“Minister”) on climate change matters and issues, including identifying potential opportunities for partnership and strengthening collaboration with other sub-national jurisdictions, and raising the profile of Ontario’s work on climate change initiatives;

Therefore, pursuant to the Prerogative of Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Ontario to provide for the appointment of advisors to serve Her Majesty’s Government of Ontario in the discharge of its executive obligations and responsibilities;

Advisor Re-established

  1. The position of Special Advisor for Climate Change, Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change (“Advisor”) is hereby re-established for a period not to exceed one year from the date of this Order. The Advisor shall be appointed to serve at pleasure by Order in Council for a period of one year and shall be accountable to the Minister.

Terms of Reference

  1. The Minister shall determine the terms of reference for the Advisor and may amend them from time to time.

Remuneration and Expenses

  1. The Advisor shall be paid such remuneration as the Lieutenant Governor in Council may determine.
  2. The Advisor may be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred while engaged in the business of the Advisor and in accordance with the relevant directives, guidelines and policies of the Treasury Board and Management Board of Cabinet.
