Order in Council 397/2018

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Whereas the Minister of Environment and Climate Change (“Minister”) pursuant to s. 11 of the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act, 2016 may issue resource recovery and waste reduction policy statements with the approval of the Lieutenant Governor in Council;

And whereas in February 2017 the Minister published the ‘Strategy for a Waste-Free Ontario: Building the Circular Economy’, wherein a commitment was made to develop and consult on the first policy statement, focused on reducing and recovering food and organic wastes, in the fall of 2017;

And whereas the Minister consulted with the public on a resource recovery and waste reduction policy statement pertaining to food and organic wastes and decided that the attached policy statement entitled Food and Organic Waste Policy Statement (“Policy Statement”) should be issued;

And whereasthe Minister recommends that the Lieutenant Governor in Council approve the attached Policy Statement.

Now therefore the attached Policy Statement is hereby approved.
