Order in Council 445/2019

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Whereas the Government of Ontario announced it is undertaking a comprehensive review of the beverage alcohol sector to inform its plan to expand the sale of alcohol into corner, grocery and big-box stores;

Pursuant to the prerogative of Her Majesty the Queen in right of Ontario to provide for the appointment of advisors to serve Her Majesty’s Government of Ontario in the discharge of its executive obligations and responsibilities;

Special Advisor

1. The office of Special Advisor, Beverage Alcohol Review (the “Special Advisor”) accountable to the Minister of Finance (the “Minister”), is hereby established for a period not extending beyond March 20, 2020.

Terms of Reference

2. The Minister shall determine the terms of reference for the Special Advisor and may amend them from time to time.

Appointment

3. The Lieutenant Governor in Council may appoint the Special Advisor, who shall serve at the pleasure of the Lieutenant Governor in Council for a period not extending beyond March 20, 2020.

Remuneration and expenses

4. The Special Advisor shall be paid such remuneration and expenses as the Lieutenant Governor in Council may determine.
