Order in Council 522/2019

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Whereas pursuant to section 4 of the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities Act, an Intellectual Property Expert Panel (“Expert Panel”) was established by Minister’s Order for a period commencing on the date of the Minister’s order and ending no later than March 31, 2020;

And whereas the members of the Expert Panel shall be appointed by the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities for terms ending no later than March 31, 2020 and the Minister shall designate one member as Chair of the Board;

And whereas subsection 76(2) of the Legislation Act 2006 authorizes the Lieutenant Governor in Council to determine the remuneration and expenses of persons appointed by a Minister pursuant to an authority to appoint a person to an office;

Therefore:

1. The Chair of the Expert Panel shall be paid $0 for serving as Chair of the Expert Panel; 
2. Each Expert Panel member, other than the Chair, shall be paid a maximum of $200.00 for every full day the member spends on the business of the Expert Panel provided that the total remuneration for the term of each member’s appointment shall not exceed $13,000.
3. The Chair, and the members other than the Chair, shall be reimbursed for all reasonable expenses incurred while engaged in the business of the Expert Panel in accordance with all relevant directives, guidelines and policies of the Treasury Board/ Management Board of Cabinet.
