Order in Council 524/2019
On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:
Whereas there is a need to provide advice to the President of the Treasury Board on government-wide internal audit matters, to support decision-making by the Audit and Accountability Committee;
And whereas the Lieutenant Governor in Council considers it desirable to establish an advisory committee to provide expert advice to the President of the Treasury Board on internal audit matters;
Therefore pursuant to subsection 6.1(1) of the Ministry of Government Services Act:
Advisory agency established
- The Ontario Internal Audit Committee is hereby established as an advisory agency, accountable to the President of the Treasury Board (the “Minister”).
Terms of reference
- The Minister shall determine the terms of reference of the Ontario Internal Audit Committee and may amend them from time to time.
Appointments
- The Ontario Internal Audit Committee shall be comprised of up to five members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council to serve at pleasure for a period not exceeding three years, as follows:
- up to two deputy ministers nominated by the Secretary of the Cabinet, and
- up to three additional members.
Chair
- The Lieutenant Governor in Council may designate one member, other than a deputy minister, as Chair.
Remuneration and expenses
- The members of the Ontario Internal Audit Committee, including the Chair, shall be paid such remuneration and expenses as the Lieutenant Governor in Council may determine.
