On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Pursuant to subsection 13.1(4) of the Excellent Care for All Act, 2010 (the “Act”), the person appointed under the Act as patient ombudsman (the “Patient Ombudsman”) shall, during the term of their appointment, receive the following salary and other remuneration and benefits:

  1. Annual Salary.  The Patient Ombudsman shall be paid a fixed salary of $220,000 per annum, less any required deductions and remittances.
  2. Vacation.  The Patient Ombudsman shall be eligible to take four (4) weeks paid vacation per year, pro-rated in their first and last years of appointment, based on time actually worked as Patient Ombudsman in each partial year.
  3. Performance Incentive.  The Patient Ombudsman shall not be eligible for any performance bonuses.
  4. Pension Plan. The Patient Ombudsman shall be eligible to participate in the Public Service Pension Plan subject to the terms of that plan.
  5. Benefits.  The Patient Ombudsman shall participate in the benefit plan generally made available to senior management of Ontario Health.
  6. Expenses. Expenses incurred by the Patient Ombudsman in the execution of the Patient Ombudsman’s duties and responsibilities will be reimbursed by Ontario Health upon presentation of appropriate receipts in accordance with the Travel, Meal and Hospitality Expenses Directive.
  7. Other Benefits. For other benefits not expressly included above (such as but not limited to professional dues and development), the Patient Ombudsman shall be eligible to receive such benefits at the same level as other senior managers of Ontario Health.
