Overview

The Ontario electronic signature service allows users to sign documents and applications digitally with an electronic signature. This service is fast, convenient and legally compliant.

If the document you are signing is compatible with the Ontario electronic signature service, you will be able to provide your electronic signature using any web browser.

How to digitally sign documents

There are two ways you can be prompted for your electronic signature:

  1. by email
  2. within the application

If you are contacted by email for your electronic signature, select “Review Document” in the email to get started. Follow the blue arrow prompts to complete any required fields.

If you have been asked within the application for your electronic signature, follow the blue arrow prompts to complete any required fields.

There are three ways you can provide your electronic signature:

  1. type your name and select from a variety of automatically generated signature choices
  2. draw your signature using your cursor
  3. upload an image of your saved signature using either the drag and drop option or the file upload option

After providing your electronic signature, a blue arrow will guide you to the "Finalize" button in the top-right corner of the screen.

Note: If the page is unresponsive after selecting the “Finalize” button, please wait for the request to process. Please do not refresh or close the page.

If you need to decline the application form (for example, if the document has an error or if an amendment need to be made), select “Show Options” in the top-right corner of the screen and select “Decline”.

Once you have completed the application form, you will receive an email confirming that the application form has been signed and sent back to the applicable program for review.

Your email confirmation will allow you to view the signed document and signing log, which provides information about your signature.
