Failed orders
When an order fails, there are a couple of things that you will notice:
- you may not get an order confirmation or a link to download your product
- you may see some transactions appear on your credit card or bank account.
In the next sections, we will take a look at what you should do when you encounter these scenarios.
Pending transactions
When you use your credit card, the credit card company reserves the funds which creates a pending transaction.
If you get a failed order message and see a pending transaction on your credit card, do not worry as we have not collected any funds.
Your credit card company will release the money. Once the funds are released, the pending transaction will disappear from your credit card.
If the funds have not been released after 5 business days, contact your credit card company.
Posted transactions
Once your credit card company transfers the money to pay for your purchase, it becomes a posted transaction that shows up on your credit card.
Sometimes due to technical issues, you may see a posted transaction on your credit card even if your order failed.
While we do cancel all failed orders as soon as possible, if you still have a posted transaction on your credit card after 5 business days, contact ServiceOntario at:
Debit transactions
When you use Debit, your bank takes the money from your bank account right away.
If you pay with Debit and your order fails, the funds will be deducted from your account. Your bank will return the funds back to your bank account.
If the funds are not back in your account after 30 days, contact your bank.
Driver records, vehicle records and used vehicle information package
If your order fails for any of these products, do not try again to avoid multiple charges. Contact ServiceOntario:
