Dear Justice Winkler:
In accordance with Ontario Regulation 319/00 made under the Justices of the Peace Act, the Report of the Seventh and Eighth Justices of the Peace Remuneration Commissions dated April 16, 2018 was submitted to the Lieutenant Governor in Council (LGIC). In the Report, the Commission accepted the recommendations in the joint submission proposed by the Government and the Association of Justices of the Peace of Ontario (AJPO).
The LGIC has given full consideration to the recommendations set out in the Report and I am writing to convey to you the LGIC’s response to those recommendations. The LGIC accepts the Commission’s recommendation to implement the terms of the joint submission.
The Government continues to value the work of Justices of the Peace and recognizes that they are an integral part of the Ontario judicial system.
The Government wishes to thank the Commission for this Report and for carrying out this important work.
