Overview

As outlined in the 2017 Health Card Validation Reference Manual and INFOBulletin 230703 the ministry is replacing legacy Health Card Validation (HCV) technology. The ministry is moving towards a modern connectivity method for all Health Card Validation transactions.

The IMS Listener and IMS Connect connection types for the Health Card Validation service will be phased out by March 31, 2024.

Please note: this change will not affect you if you are not using IMS Listener or IMS Connect.

Software that accesses Health Card Validation using IMS Listener or IMS Connect will need to transition before March 31, 2024.

Software developers should allow sufficient time for testing and implementation to avoid disruption of HCV services.

The following connection types are available to allow continued access to HCV:

  • Master Services Agreement (MSA)
  • Identity Provider (IDP)

For more information, please see the Health Card Validation Reference Manual.

Conformance testing

Conformance testing will be available for all software transitioning from a legacy connection to a more modern connection type.

Please see previous INFOBulletin 230703 for more information on conformance testing.
