Standardize Planning Act and Endangered Species Act requirements
Status: Action in progress
What we heard
Conflicting requirements under the Planning Act and Endangered Species Act create obstacles for developers.
Our plan
The Government of Ontario has revised land use planning policies to better align with requirements under the Endangered Species Act. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is targeting the release of guidance materials about policy changes by end of March 2017, and has streamlined approval processes to reduce unnecessary burdens for developers.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry aims to make all decisions on applications related to the Endangered Species Act within 3 months of receiving complete submissions.
