On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Whereas the Lieutenant Governor in Council considers it necessary to establish a short-term advisory body to provide advice and recommendations to the Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development on matters relating to the modernization of the skilled trades and apprenticeship system;

Therefore, pursuant to section 4 of the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities Act:

  1. The Skilled Trades Panel is established for a term of nine months, effective the date this Order in Council is made;
  2. The Skilled Trades Panel shall consist of up to five members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council to serve at pleasure for terms not exceeding nine months, and the Lieutenant Governor in Council shall designate one member as Chair;
  3. The members of the Skilled Trades Panel shall be accountable to the Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development and shall perform the duties and carry out the activities set out in the Terms of Reference established by the Minister;
  4. The members of the Skilled Trades Panel shall be compensated at a rate determined by the Lieutenant Governor in Council;
  5. The members of the Skilled Trades Panel shall be reimbursed for work-related expenses incurred in carrying out their duties as members of the Skilled Trades Panel in accordance with the Travel, Meal and Hospitality Expenses Directive and any other TB/MBC directives.
