Order in Council 770/2018

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Whereas the Deputy Judges Remuneration Commission is established under Order in Council O.C. 1788/2006 (“Order”) and its composition and functions are set out in that Order;

And whereas the Fourth Deputy Judges Remuneration Commission (Fourth Commission) conducted an inquiry into the remuneration of Deputy Judges for the period beginning January 1, 2016 and ending December 31, 2018;

And whereas the Fourth Commission submitted reports containing its recommendations for the remuneration of the Deputy Judges to the President of the Treasury Board on November 10, 2017 and March 22, 2018;

And whereas the President of the Treasury Board has been authorized to carry out the powers, duties and functions formerly assigned to the Minister of Government Services under the Order;

And whereas the President of the Treasury Board has submitted the Fourth Commission’s Reports to the Lieutenant Governor in Council;

And whereas section 11 of the Order requires the Lieutenant Governor in Council to give its response to the Commission’s Reports with reasonable dispatch, and no later than four months after the Reports were submitted to the Minister of Government Services or if it is determined that more than four months are needed to respond, no later than seven months after the Reports were submitted;

And whereas the Lieutenant Governor in Council has decided to respond to the Fourth Commission’s recommendations contained in its Reports as set out in the letter attached as Schedule A to this Order;

The President of the Treasury Board shall convey the Lieutenant Governor in Council’s response to the Fourth Commission’s recommendations as set out in the letter attached as Schedule A to this Order.
