Dear Mr. Kaplan:
In accordance with Order-in-Council 1788/2006, the Report of the Fourth Deputy Judges Remuneration Commission dated November 10, 2017 was submitted to the Lieutenant Governor in Council (LGIC). A subsequent hearing was then held on March 22, 2018 and an addendum to the Report of the Fourth Deputy Judges Remuneration Commission was submitted by the commission to the LGIC on March 26, 2018.
The LGIC has given full consideration to the recommendations set out in the Report(s) and I am writing to convey to you the LGIC’s response to those recommendations. The LGIC accepts the Commission’s recommendation to implement the per diem rates of remuneration as recommended by the Commission.
The Government continues to value the work of Deputy Judges and recognizes that they are an integral part of the Ontario judicial system.
The Government wishes to thank you for your report and for carrying out this important work.
