Users can also drill down to see select historical correspondence (requests, additional information, response letters, etc.) Expanding on the email notifications introduced earlier this year, users within SADIE will now receive system generated email notifications when the status of their request changes. Notifications are sent to your GO Secure email address. For details, go to Chapter 14 of the SADIE User Guide (PDF).

Earlier this month, we launched the delegate role which allows Delegates to submit a request on behalf of a Prescriber, and support Prescribers in being able to maintain SADIE user accounts and practice location details.

For more information about Delegates and instructions on setting up their accounts, see the Quick Reference — How to Set-up a Delegate or Designate guide (PDF).

May 5, 2021 — SADIE Delegates now available

The Ministry of Health continues to modernize its Exceptional Access Program (EAP).

As the next major step forward, we are excited to announce that Prescribers can now assign Delegates in SADIE who can work on their behalf to create and submit requests to the EAP. The new Delegate role allows Prescribers to focus on direct patient care, while their Delegates perform the administrative functions on their behalf.

Last year we launched the Designate role which allows Designates to prepare EAP requests for the Prescriber to review and submit. This led to a 60% increase in the use of SADIE, with those using SADIE once continuing to use it for all of their EAP requests.

In addition to being able to submit a request on behalf of a Prescriber, Delegates now have extended administrative capabilities within SADIE to support Prescribers in being able to maintain SADIE user accounts and practice location details.

For more information about Delegates and instructions on setting up their accounts, see the Quick Reference — How to Set-up a Delegate or Designate guide (PDF).

June 24, 2020 — SADIE 2.0 Now available — with Designates

Introducing SADIE 2.0

The Exceptional Access Program Digital Assistant — now with Designates!

The Ministry of Health understands that fast approvals are important to patients and Prescribers awaiting Exceptional Access Program (EAP) decisions for Ontario Drug Benefits. That’s why we launched SADIE (the Special Authorization Digital Information Exchange) in 2019. After more than a year of operation, we are pleased to inform you that SADIE’s intuitive digital platform has successfully reduced application errors by 75% and cut EAP decision times by an average of 50% compared to fax requests.

Now we are excited to introduce the even more responsive SADIE 2.0. Those involved in the creation and submission of EAP requests told us that allowing Designates to use the system was critical — we listened.

Prescribers can now assign Designates to prepare EAP requests for their review and submission.

For more information about Designates and instructions on setting up Designates’ accounts, see the Quick Reference — How to Set-up a Designate (PDF) guide.
