Royal Assent

The Province Of Ontario

Toronto, Wednesday, December 12, 2001.

5:20 p.m.

Her Honour the Lieutenant Governor of the Province entered the Chamber of the Legislative Assembly and took her seat upon the Throne.

The Speaker addressed Her Honour as follows :-

“May it please Your Honour:

The Clerk Assistant and Executive Director of Legislative Services then read the titles of the bills that had passed as follows :-

The Legislative Assembly of the Province has, at its present meetings thereof, passed certain bills to which, in the name and on behalf of the said Legislative Assembly, I respectfully request Your Honour’s assent.”

“The following are the titles of the bills to which Your Honour’s assent is prayed:

Bill 110
An Act to promote quality in the classroom.
[S.O. 2001, Chapter 24]

Bill 111
An Act to revise the Municipal Act and to amend or repeal other Acts in relation to municipalities.
[S.O. 2001, Chapter 25]

Bill 145
An Act to amend the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
[S.O. 2001, Chapter 26]”

To these Acts the Royal Assent was announced by the Clerk of the Legislative Assembly in the following words :-

“In Her Majesty’s name, Her Honour the Lieutenant Governor doth assent to these bills.”

The Speaker then said :-

“May it please your Honour:

We, Her Majesty’s most dutiful and faithful subjects, the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, in session assembled, approach Your Honour with sentiments of unfeigned devotion and loyalty to Her Majesty’s person and Government, and humbly beg to present for Your Honour’s acceptance a bill entitled, ‘An Act to authorize the payment of certain amounts for the Public Service for the fiscal year ending on March 31, 2002,’” [Bill 149] [S.O. 2001, Chapter 27]

To this Act the Royal Assent was announced by the Clerk of the Legislative Assembly in the following words -

“Her Honour the Lieutenant Governor doth thank Her Majesty’s dutiful and loyal subjects, accept their benevolence and assent to this bill in Her Majesty’s Name”.

Her Honour was then pleased to retire.
