White Pine–pinus strobus

White Pine is a common tree throughout central and southern Ontario, and is Ontario’s provincial tree. It has long needles (6 to 12 cm) that are soft to the touch and grow in bunches of five.

White Pine has long been used for trim, furniture and lumber, and has a light white, knotty wood. White Pine represents 2.5% of Ontario’s annual harvest, and represents 4% of the provinces total growing stock volume.
